How to treat a nine year old jack russell dog with swelling on the neck?
Hi, Our dog has developed a swelling on both sides of her neck, which has gradually increased in size over the last month. It is quite hard to touch, but does seem to have protruded to the left in the past few days. It is now affecting her breathing and she is starting to snore during her sleep. However, this has not affected her temperment and is as lively as ever. Our vet has told us that it is a swelling of the submaxillary glands and has given us some medicine to give to her daily. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.
If the medication your vet gave you is not working, time for another trip to the vet or a second opinion from another vet. Swelling of the neck can be an indication of an infection, depending where on the neck, there are lymph nodes located in the neck that can become enlarged.
