snoring sound effects
How worried should I be about my kitten’s breathing?
He’s a little over a year old and he snores audibly (sounds like a terrible wheeze) while sleeping, grunts sometimes when he’s purring and sometimes breathes so loud when awake I wonder if he’s sick. This has been on going for the last 4 months or so. He also has fits of coughing/sneezing on occasion but while that behavior comes and goes, his breathing sounds labored on a consistent/daily basis.
He’s also pretty heavy and it’s nearly impossible to get him to lay off the food. I can’t tell if he has some kind of eating disorder and the heavy breathing is just side effect (a rather extreme one I would say) of him being overweight or if he might have some kind of heart condition. He’s completely playful and acts normal but I don’t want to ignore some underlying danger that might be present.
Ok i have a cat that had the hard breathing and sounded like she was coughing up a hairball frequently then other times she seemed fine. I took her to the vet the vet said hairballs. I took her to a different vet a year later and it turns out the poor thing has asthma. Her lungs were so loud when the vet listened he could not hear her heart pumping. The vet gave her a 30.00 shot and she is FINE. Her side does not noticably rise and fall and there is no more coughing. He said when I notice her getting bad again to return for another shot. I also now run a humidifier for her.
Please get your cat checked out and youtube cats with asthma.
It may not be asthma but I would get it checked.
Good luck
