English Bulldog snoring extremely loud?

I have a 8 year old english bulldog, who, thankfully, has always been in good health. I recently took him to the vet for a routine vaccine and told the vet that he is snoring extremely loud. I realize he’s a bully and he’s always snored, matter of fact, i’ve gotten used to it, but his snoring recently has concerned me. He suggested looking at his soft palate, which they have to give him an anestetic for. Is this safe for an 8 year old bully? He’s never been under anestetic before, but I would feel awful if something happened to him that I could have possibly avoided. Thanks for your help.
